A first 5 months training for peers

A Five-Month basics Immersive Journey: Training Peer at South Burnett Peace of Mind Associates Incorporated will take 16 months.

The foundation of our transformative approach at South Burnett Peace of Mind Associates Incorporated rests upon the dedicated individuals who will serve as our Peer Coordinators. Recognizing the profound impact they can bring, we have meticulously designed a five-month training program that ensures they are not only equipped with the necessary skills but are also aligned with our ethos and values.

Month 1 & 2: Groundwork and Core Principles

During the initial two months, peers will be introduced to our foundational principles. This period is all about immersion – letting them observe, understand, and grasp the basic rules and guidelines. We believe in showing rather than just telling, and as such, these months will be a blend of instructional sessions and real-world observations.

Month 3: Experiential Learning and Communication

As we progress into the third month, the emphasis will be on the art of communication. Peers will be exposed to the nuanced ways in which we interact with our clients. By engaging in simulated interactions and receiving constructive feedback, they will hone their ability to communicate with empathy, clarity, and respect.

Month 4: Assimilation and Individual Expression

Now well-versed with our practices, the fourth month will encourage peers to integrate what they’ve learned with their unique personal touch. While we provide the framework, we also deeply value individuality. During this month, they’ll be encouraged to adapt and evolve their approach, ensuring that they bring their personal strengths into their roles.

Month 5: Final Integration and Reflection

The culminating month is dedicated to synthesis and reflection. Peers will now confidently engage with clients under supervision, integrating all they’ve learned while also incorporating their personal style. This month serves as both a testbed for their skills and an opportunity to reflect, adjust, and refine.

At the end of this five-month journey, we expect our Peer to be ambassadors of our mission, proficient in their roles, and true representatives of the community they serve. By ensuring they’re thoroughly trained, we’re not just investing in their professional growth but in the overall well-being and success of every individual who seeks our support.

“Should peers wish to advance their training, they have the option to proceed. Alternatively, we offer a 8 day reflection period. At the conclusion of this break, if they choose not to pursue further education, we will require them to complete a formal declaration confirming their decision not to continue with advanced learning. “but if they ever want to change their mind they have to wait for another 16 months. But they can always be part of the drop in centre because they did the fist 5 months. Or if they just want to be a client they may.
